Description
Cherry Cheesecake Puppy Chow is a sweet snack that combines the nostalgic flavors of summer picnics with a creamy cherry cheesecake twist. It’s an easy-to-make treat perfect for any occasion.
Ingredients
Scale
- 6 cups Rice Chex cereal (or any similar cereal)
- 1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
- 1/2 cup white chocolate chips
- 1/4 cup cherry pie filling (or cherry preserves)
- 1/2 cup powdered sugar
- 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
Instructions
- Prepare Your Workspace: Start by lining your baking sheet with parchment paper.
- Measure the Cereal: In a large mixing bowl, measure out 6 cups of Rice Chex cereal. Set aside.
- Melting the Chocolate: In a microwave-safe bowl, combine the semi-sweet chocolate chips and cherry pie filling. Microwave in 30-second intervals, stirring in between, until melted and smooth.
- Add Vanilla and Salt: Stir in the vanilla extract and salt into the melted chocolate mixture until well combined.
- Coat the Cereal: Pour the melted chocolate mixture over the cereal and gently fold it in with a spatula until all the pieces are evenly coated.
- Dust with Powdered Sugar: Sprinkle the powdered sugar over the coated cereal and toss gently until everything is covered.
- Let it Cool: Spread the puppy chow mixture onto the prepared baking sheet in an even layer. Allow it to cool for about 15-20 minutes to set.
- Serve: Once cooled, break apart any clumps and serve in a bowl.
Notes
For a vegan version, use dairy-free chocolate chips. If you can’t find cherry pie filling, any fruit preserves would work.
